I don't really get the point of instant coffee. It's far away enough from real coffee to not be worth the trouble, imho. If I really can't be fucked to brew a pot of coffee I'll just go straight to Coke or energy drinks rather than instant. Or just a cup of tea from a bag, which is just as quick as instant coffee and a helluva lot closer to proper tea than instant is to proper coffee.

instant coffee tastes nothing like a decent brew. I agree with you that if i need something instant tea bags are alot better.

i do love a hot coffee and a fresh glazed , old fashioned donut in the crisp, wee hours of the morning at a cafe, still not really fully lit outside. sun still coming up. the few persons you see are very old school "top of the morning to you"...

that is like heaven.

I only drink 2-3 cups a week, so when I do drink coffee, really like it to taste like, well, coffee - not diluted with water or with other flavours.

When visiting relatives or friends in the UK I usually have to turn down some disgusting Nescafe or supermarket own brand instant. If I forget to take my one-cup mocha stove top, I'm screwed at home ,too, and end up drinking water or fruit tea for my entire stay.

French press can be very strong, I find. It comes down to the stewing time and the amount of coffee used.

Anything is better than that freeze dried instant s**t.

Reminds me of a fellow I saw at a diner I like to go to once at 4:30 in the morning. Full Texas tuxedo, jacket and Wranglers, all with the kind of wear that SuFu kids could fwack to, a face weathered in the sun to look like an old saddle, and smoking Marlboro reds with a can of what I can only presume was Cope Long Cut in the back pocket.

Made me feel emasculated for a week. This guy just exuded the kind of authenticity that modern men read Hemingway and watch James Dean movies to try to get a whiff of.

being a starbucks employee surrounded by free lattes like 30 hours a week I have switched to black coffee / straight espresso just to cut the calories.

Regarding a previous question as to favorite black coffee, try a press of starbucks guatemala, it's really textured.

Starbucks also has the worst drip coffee...EVER.

Edit: But, if you work at the one on 71st/Bway please let me know so you can hook me up with drinks.
