Last month I visited Hong Kong for a week. Had a few shirts ordered at Jantzen on the first day of arrival. One prototype was made in a couple of days for a quick fitting check. And the rest were done by the time I had to leave. On premise work still has a very good turn aroudn time nevertheless.

They have developed such a good reputation locally that any complaints from online customers are clearly secondary. The amount of work they get locally either from tourists, expats, locals, etc. seriously outweighs anything they get online. They get a decent amount of suit orders in store as well, which have a better margin than shirts. The only reason they started to accept online orders was a result of the handover to accommodate the expat customers that left.

I will be visiting over the weekend and ask them about moving, though personally the trip to Worldwide House is always a "colorful" one.. btw, just from talking to Ricky about their business, it is highly unlikely they will be bought out anytime soon. It's a cash cow for them, and despite having to constantly deal with pushy foreigners, they are quite well off.

Btw, Kolecho do you know the name of the fellow who always wears black shirts? I believe he is Ricky's partner.

And his phone ringtone is a womans screaming orgasm. Pretty interesting because it always goes off when theres a woman in the shop. Its true though, if you walk into his shop you would see that his local business in terms of shirts are just crazy. There has to be at least a hundred shirts in his store at any time. I wonder how many orders online could get him at this point w/o proper marketing and bad word of mouth? He really needs someone to individually take up this side of the online business. Kent you should come to China and do your pocket squares, cufflinks and shirts!

Wow, that's not encouraging. Has anybody actually gotten their online order within two-three weeks? I just placed an order last night, but I included a note saying I won't send my credit card info until I get a confirmation email. At least I won't get charged if they never reply. How long should I wait before I give up?

I havent ordered in about 9 months, but my last order I got within 3 weeks from placement. I understand not submitting your cc info, but that will probably guarantee never seeing your shirts.

Dangit. I really, really didn't want to submit my cc info on an unsecured site. I'll email them just to be sure, I guess.

You'd think that with all the business they're getting, they'd be able to afford a decent website. Secure ordering can't be that expensive.

Only on an internet forum....

I've ordered from Ricky at least a dozen times with some small bumps in the road that were more than worth it. I had to enact some alternate technology that is apparently seldom used by members of this forum, judging by comments in all of the Jantzen threads, but I have found to be quite sucessful!!! Antonio Meucci called it a 'teletrofono', but lacked sufficient funds to file a patent, opening in the door for a young man by the name of Alexander Graham Bell to bring forward what he called a 'telephone'. Here is a sketch:



I'm not sure if you can operate the modern versions of this device from your computers, so you may need to enact a parent or grandparent familiar with the workings of these 'telephones'. I managed to make use of this technology to make voice contact with Ricky each of the 5 or 6 times that I questioned the wherabouts of my shirts. In each case the disembodied voice of Mr. Ho reassured me that I would have my shirts within 2 weeks and he made good on each of these committments.
