This may have been answered before, but I don't know what terms I can use to search...this has been low-key bugging me for some time. Is there a reason that the jackets (and to an extent, the shirts and bottoms) bounce between the S-M-L-XL sizing notation and numerical sizing (48-50-52)? Are there different lines within the label involved? Does it have to do with the manufacturing country? I originally assumed the numbers were for more "formal" pieces and the letters where for more "casual/sporty". Nope.

Good question. The blazers/suits I have are all numeric sizes, but the non-blazer jackets (moto, field jacket, etc) I have are S-M-L. Maybe that's the distinction? Although now that I think of it, I have one nylon field/rain jacket that is numeric.

I know Dries often gets pretty heavily discounted during sale seasons and such.. where do you guys usually buy dries below retail? Also, is the flagship store in Antwerp worth the visit from Amsterdam? I'll be there for 6 days this summer and was considering making a day trip.

I think all the online retailers have sales usually around January and July. Yoox gets old stock sporadically and is sometimes marked down a lot. I would definitely check out the Antwerp shop -- sale time or not.

The Antwerp store is nice but probably not worth the trip down alone unless you're some kind of Dries fanatic. That said there's plenty of other stuff to see in Antwerp and it's mostly situated in the same part of the city, definitely doable in a day.

Thanks! I'm not a Dries fanatic per say but he is probably one of my favorite designers. I was definitely going to Antwerp until I realized the Dries show in the fashion museum there is ending right before my visit.. I think I still might find time to go..

The Schneider boutique is practically next door to the Dries store (be warned, it's small) and so is the ModeMuseum (still worth a visit even without the Dries show I'd say). Shouldn't take you more than 2-3 hours all in all. The JanJan store (also small) is a bit out of the way but close to the railway station so it's pretty convenient.

Does anyone here have the embroidered strapped shirts from this season? If so how did you size it?

I think it's originally from Vestoj, interesting magazine. There's also a great Nigel Cabourn interview published in the same issue (On Slowness)

^ Thanks that makes sense. Hint seems like they source a lot of their content elsewhere. I'll look out for Vestoj.

I love that Dries still likes to look at every button and fabric swatch.

SS16 collection

personally not feeling the overt Marilyn graphics and abundance of appliqué, sequins and Versace prints. I hope Dries is not jumping on the rottweiler sweatshirt bandwagon.

I kinda like this lobster knit though, and I like the wide leg trousers with sneakers combo.

I'm with you, Parker. The Marilyn was a bit too much for me. On a couple of pieces it would've been great, but it was a little overkill. The lobster was evidently a reference to Dalí, another inspiration for the collection. I feel like after several seasons in a row of outstanding shows this one came back down to earth a little. Still plenty of good pieces though.

Checked out the first arrivals of FW15 in Barneys yesterday (and picked up a knit from SS15). The pieces are really nice. They only had a little bit on the racks for the first delivery, but I liked a lot of what I saw. Outerwear was great, as was this big chunky blue & brown knit. Looking forward to seeing the rest.
