No, first time with Peter Lee. I guess large order is relative. I told Peter I was giving him a try and if satisfied, I'd return. If not I'd try my luck elsewhere. I've got my fitting with him this afternoon so I'll get a sense of his work quickly.

Got it - interesting to see how these turn out.

Ascot Chang is the best shirtmaker in HK that travels to the US. Shirts range from $150 and up. Gordon Yao and WW Chan are probably the 2 best suit makers and start from $1300.

AC has 2 shops in the US, Los Angeles and New York but all their shirts are made in HK with a few exceptions. The shirts are cheaper on tour than in the shops.

That's pretty much their starting price ($150) but most of their good fabrics are $220 and up. Simpson Sin is in the range your looking for.

They offer TM and although I've never had a shirt made but if its anything like their suits then its pretty good for the price.

I just had the followup sizing and was very impressed with Peter and his tailor. They made about 20 minor adjustments to the shirt they had and many more to the suit. Many of the tweaks were a quarter inch here and there.

Over the years I've had three tailors in HK and Peter was by far the most detail oriented. I usually like a very modern, form fitted look and I'm excited to see what Peter delivers. I pick up the order on Saturday (May 6th) and assuming there are no other tweaks, which require more adjustments, I will post pics in the following weeks.

I don't think you'll find either WW Chan or Gordon Yao in the $1,300 range. I visited both and they're closer to the ~$2k and their shirts would be closer to ~$200-250 as mentioned by others. It seems like all the good tailors in HK are very busy which looks to be causing price inflation (although, I was very happy with Peter Lee's pricing).

Yeah, VBC Super 110 seems to be Chan's principal bottom-end suiting, and a perfectly good one, in my opinion, if you fancy a 9-ounce year-round worsted. I wouldn't hesitate to get another suit in this fabric from my buddies in Kowloon if I wanted one.

Its a very durable fabric and I wouldn't hesitate as well

Have suits and some trousers (noob purchase early on in my fabric knowledge) in VBC which have held up extraordinarily well after using them as regulars. They are still good 2 years on.
