Wife's new supervisor is turning out to be a heinous *****. 6 months ago wife's beloved direct supervisor retired. They hired a replacement, but they divided the role into operations and line of business responsibilities, and gave my wife a newly created, associate director position with some operational responsibilities, reporting to the new director. The new director has been a problem from day 1: she is judgmental, quick to leap to conclusions, confrontational, and she has undermined my wife repeatedly.
A few months ago, my wife was given responsibility for managing IT, despite a complete lack of experience in the area. Soon after she started the role, she was involved in a botched application for a technology grant - she reduced the size of the ask to make it more targeted, without getting management buy-in. Senior management found out at the last minute and upped the ask without telling my wife, then came back and demanded to know what was going on. Wife explained her (very sound) reasoning behind reducing the ask to make it more targeted and more likely to succeed. Unfortunately, they did not get the grant. Wife apologized profusely, went through a process of 1) explaining her reasoning and 2) identifying where she could have handled the process differently / better. She thought (and was told) it had been left behind and everything was fine, and went back to her usual daily grind of too many projects and not enough support.
Well, yesterday her supervisor informed her that, "I would be remiss if I did not write you up for what happened, and place it in your permanent record. You will have an opportunity to rebut, but you, the CEO, and I will all be signing the write-up." Wife is freaking out and was in tears last night, we were both up until all hours and now I'm sitting in a training class trying to keep my eyes open.
Why the eff would you write someone up for a mistake? What kind of petty, punitive bullshit is that?

Really ****** news, imatlas. Piob is right. Get looking for a job now. This sitch doesn't sound tenable anyways from your wife's own perspective, but even if it were, the boss is making a trail for some reason or another. Get out while the gettin's good, unless there's some higher authority to appeal to... and even that's fraught with peril.

If anything, the new boss is doing you a favor giving you some notice, notwithstanding the fact that she sounds like a royal c-word.

These. Start looking while she has a job. Same exact thing happened to a couple people I know, minus the big promotion/title change.

...
I'm pissed at how ******* self-riteious/self-indulgent these ******* animal adoption places are.
We had some people come to the condo and just start nitpicking at the block we live in (which has a large dog friendly park 500feet away and a uninterrupted 1 mile loop of sidewalk that surrounds it). Our building is totally dog friendly and we have a signed papers stating so on the contracts since day one. We already have a dog walker set up and even an agility school/training people waiting. Yet you get these ******* barely over 20y/o dipshits acting like they are entrusting me to care for a living Faberge egg.
I'm a motherfucking doctor you *************, I know that diarrhea is a bad thing for a dog... I also know that the ******* 20 vets that live within 2miles of the house have that knowledge too.
ugghhh... I've never wanted to ******* just slap some one across the face while they started blabbering self righteously so badly.
This is not going as planned at all. Maybe I should just go rogue and buy a pure bread dog on my own.... my wife will love it regardless.

I read an article about this recently. Basically, in a lot of cases adoption has become so onerous that people who would prefer to adopt are buying from breeders, which means adoption has basically become a self-defeating enterprise.

This sucks. I'm sorry you wife has to deal with it, but +1 to the paper trail being created.

I'm sorry to hear this is going on, but it sounds like it's time for her to move along. Good luck to you both in the process.

Thanks for the concern all. The paper trail path to firing is my conclusion as well. I told Mrs Atlas yesterday that if she needs to quit first and look for a job second I'll back the play, but regardless it's time to get while the getting is good.

Poorly placed plastic tag fasteners.

Balding men who shave their heads so that they can deny their baldness.

People over 70.

Other drivers.

I doubt you'll run into such self-righteousness and pomposity when adopting a child.

what are the legal implications of me secretly filming one of these ridiculous conversations I had with the animal adoption idiots?

if I post it on the interwebs I know that it will become a shitstorm of :teach::uhoh::censored::facepalm: but then again this must be exposed.

There's so many, SO MANY adoption places that you should keep your dignity and sanity by telling those idiots like that to go *************** and go on to the next agency. The cat people are just as bad and I really had no patience for the kookie ones who took their jobs way too seriously - the annoying ones were all women who had the cumulative annoying behavior of the worst of a group of elementary school teachers and a convent of nuns all tied up into one person.

Those adoption places NEED you and they need your future good referrals. It's like, "Great - you don't want to give one of those dogs to me who could otherwise end up being euthanized? It's your choice!"
