Ethics reporting laws. As Neo pointed out - white people's problems. Too many people giving me gifts that are too nice.

is this because they are lobbyists and your a lawyer ?i got all kinds of sweet ish for my wedding, and sizable checks. i just banked that ish. am i safe?

if any gvt agencies are reading that, it is totally not true.

:fu: I'm getting married less than three weeks and have been thus far pretty isolated from the process, just writing checks here and there, yes/no's on a couple of things, and what I'll be wearing. Which has now fucked me. I didn't get involved in the Wedding Gift Registry at all. If I had, I'd've thought that I needed to specify to my friends who are lobbyists (met them when I was a lobbyist, several years ago, none of whom lobby for anything involving my agency) that they can't give me gifts. I also would've tried to keep the items registered to less than $100 (the value of gifts that I can receive from anyone without having to report it).
Now, I've checked the registry and we've got three dozen $100+ gifts and four sizeable gifts from lobbyists that I now have to write checks, out-of-pocket, to reimburse them for the value of the gifts. Which is great, because I'm so flush with cash right now.

I knew that bet was going to bite you **********. Uncle Howie is here when you need him.

Wow, that sounds like a huge hassle.

At the very least, update that bad boy with things you'd like to buy for yourself but don't because you can't justify spending the money!

It's because of his position, not because he's a lawyer. You can't have people using things like weddings as a cover for buying influence.

Love how this rabbit hole research my boss sent me on the past day and a half made me look like a dumbass when suggesting comments for a intl' trade proceeding.

some asshole at work called me out on mass email distribution for "making changes that will delay the implementation" of a project that we're all keen on completing. inevitable firehose of **** immediately gets aimed at me. i responded to him, using the same mass email distribution list, "no, asshole, what i did was point out that your approach will not work for these reasons, and i was trying to avoid you making a fool of yourself" (ok, so i omitted the word 'asshole' and might have substituted 'ourselves' for 'yourself')

so now i waste a whole day fixing his ******* mess, and i'm sure i'll still take some blame for "starting" the mess in the first place. i am definitely holding a grudge on this one, to be repaid at the best possible time.

I had to drive to Poughkeepsie today (hour and a half each way). My passenger was the weirdest dude in our office. I discovered that he is a major player in Bronycon, thus cementing his status as a total fuckin' freak.

And I get to do it all again at 8:30am tomorrow. :fu:

I had to look this up, and now I really wish I didn't know about it.

Did you know what that was when he told you, or did he have to explain it? (I am not ashamed at all to admit that I had to google it.)

I'm thinking of becoming a minor player in Bronycon. That wouldn't make me "a total fuckin' freak," would it? You have to be a major player to be really freaky, right?

EDIT: I should add that when I was a youngster, I was quite a fan of Strawberry Shortcake. (I don't mean the food, but rather the cartoon character.)
