^ I disagree with Horner. He should have instructed him to follow orders or park the car. I've always believed Horner was a weak team boss and this is proof. "Come on Seb, this is silly"???? That's pathetic.

Its obvious Helmut Marko owns Horner.

How do you make him stop the car? He's already had his last pit stop, and he's in control until the end. I guess you could cuss him out over the radio, but what does that accomplish? The only options available to the team are to hobble his car in future races (which hurts the team) or decide that he's enough of a cancer in the team that you will pay him not to race and replace him (which hurts the team). Neither of those seems remotely likely, plus Webber is rarely near enough to Vettel for this to be a regularly recurring issue. I don't approve of his actions, but it's quite likely those 7 points will be valuable to him later in the season. Who knows, though? If that engine fails later on, he may rue the decision.

This ruthlessness is something which distinguishes world champions from really good drivers. Do you think Mika Hakkinen would have pulled over like DC did for him? Never.

Hardly. I think very few champions would have the balls to undermine the team principal so publically.

I was trying to avoid this thread until I watched Malaysia but damn coworkers busted out with the news :cloud:

Anyways, can't quite comment on the race yet but going off from the comments, I knew Vettel was hiding something... that dudes got a devil's smile everytime he's on camera. That makes for an awkward season... internal battles all out in public. Morale's gotta suck goat nuts at RBR.

It wasn't public until Webber made it public. The world feed included only radio transmissions which gave the impression that Red Bull were unimpressed with how hard he was racing Webber, but gave no indication of the disregarding of team orders. And, again, what are they going to do? Vettel is the only WC horse they have to ride. Webber won't win a championship, and sometimes can't even be counted on to be there to help in the constructor's championship. If anything, RB have created this situation themselves by favoring Vettel since he joined the team.

Senna was pretty ruthless but look back at Suzuka '91, he gave Berger a win as a thank you. Senna knew how to fight and how to thank a guy that couldn't touch him on track. Schumacher and Alonso would never have done this. Nor would Vettel. That's the difference.

Realistically there is nothing they can do to stop Vettel save order him to relinquish the spot. Vettel not only was a dick to Webber, he completely marginalized Horner and exposed him as a paper tiger. If Horner has balls he'd sit him for a race and put his job on it. He won't because he's weak.

Last year, while Vettel won the WC, Webber had the best of him most of the season. If it were not for a few incidents, he'd have been WC. I'm not a big fan of Webber but I do like how outspoken he is. Nobody else would have said "he'll get protection" from a podium.

The reality here is Vettel knew he could do it and get away with it, which he will and by proxy Horner's exposed.

I don't see why morale for staff at RBR should be low. They're winning that's all that should matter. It's got to be awkward for senior staff and the two drivers though.

Senna was friends with Berger, and the pecking order at McLaren was perfectly clear. Don't get me wrong, Senna has long been my favorite, but he was a ruthless motherfucker. He could have killed himself and/or Prost with that **** in Japan.

Schumacher actually did let Rubens win, but for different reasons.

James Allen fills in a few more details here. I thought this was particularly interesting:

But having done all of that, at the final stop something very unusual happened; having been given the stop preference throughout the race, coming in a lap earlier than Vettel for the second and third stops, Webber was then disadvantaged at the final stop.

He was brought in a lap later than his team-mate who pitted on Lap 42. Prior to this Webber had enjoyed a 4.2 second lead. However after exiting the pits on new hard tyres on lap 43 he found that Vettel was now 0.5s behind him on the faster new mediums. If Webber had stopped first he would have increased his lead.

Hmmm. Red Bull tried to get Vettel in front but Webber spoiled the party. They moved to plan B. Vettel would have none of it.

No way it can top Grand Prix but I hope they don't **** this up and add all kinds of unnecessary dramatics.

Thor starring as James Hunt? yep, F1 needs the US more than the US needs F1.

Huh? Anyway, the actor playing Lauda sounds pretty goofy and the overall movie from the trailer looks a little cheap or campy. I'll still watch it though and I hope it's good.
