I agree the boot looks really nice but if we ordered cognac and these are in fact Saddle what are we going to do?

After looking at pics of saddle and cognac shell my opinion is that this is cognac but a very light version. I was the one who manage this MTO and i talked to Skoaktiebolaget several times about what boot we wanted. I did send the pic that we had for ref. and i know SkoAB sent that to Carmina because we wanted to be sure they could do it (i know this because Carmina made a comment when we wanted rubber soles and said that it was leather soles in the pic).

Here is a shoe in saddle that SkoAB sells. Even lighter than our boot.

Dear all,

I understand some of you have concerns about the colour of the PT Group MTO. First of all, let me post some pictures.

Old run of Saddle Cordovan from Skoaktiebolaget:

Old run of Cognac Cordovan at Skoaktiebolaget:

New run of Cognac Cordovan for SF PT boot:

There are great variations in shades for different batches of Horween Cordovan. We all know this. This Cognac batch did turn out light, but it is still Cognac. If you have any concerns, we will answer you all personally, just e-mail us or call us, we will help you.

To further illustrate my point, have a look on these Burgundy Cordovan batches:

Old Burgundy Cordovan run (some would say this is close to Ruby):
1000

New Burgundy Cordovan MTO (very dark):

If anyone is disatisfied with the colour of their 8UK cognac boot, I would be happy to purchase the pair from them

It seems like a lot of us are a bit annoyed with the color of the MTO boot, but keep in mind (like Leaves said) that shell is all over the place. I definitely knew beforehand that Cognac could take on lots of different shades, and because I want a darker one, I'll probably be applying some sort of darker (black, maybe?) waxes.

you've nailed it digs. shell shading varies A LOT from batch to batch and should have been a consideration from the beginning.

Hi guys,

Any one not happy with their 8UK pm me before you have them shipped. I live in Stockholm and could pick them up if you want to sell them.

The first time I tried to order a cognac boot from Carmina, I got saddle. (The boots up-thread are mine.) Betty told me that they sometimes refer to "light cognac" and "dark cognac," so since then I am careful to add that modifier.

^ Those para boots are definitely lighter than I had expected/hoped, but I'll withhold actual judgment until I put them on my feet.

And nothing that some wax can't fix, eh?

given the apparent oil content of shell, i wonder how difficult / easy it would be to darken the color shade.
i'm wondering because of an idea rolling around in my head involving navy blue shell.
