Alpha those are gorgeous! is that the burgundy shell color? and may I ask how much you paid?

Thanks for the compliments, that's indeed the burgundy shell. I got it from the Carmina site:

http://www.carmina.telemaco.es/articulo.asp?idarticulo=3640210

It's actually a great time to get them, as people have said, the Euro's quite low, not to mention they actually take off VAT, which means an additional ~18% discount.

Heh! We use the same shoe trees! Just keep experimenting with the angles and lighting and you'll find something that works for you. Also, feel free to play around and do some post processing with a program like Google's Picasa. You'd be surprised how they could turn out.

By the way, the shoes look so vivid against the wood that they almost look like they're floating or have been cut and pasted from another image! Very cool!

Haha, funny you mentioned that, they do look like they're floating.

By the way, my pair actually have the same color as the one Gerry posted. So, if you guys want accuracy, look at his.

Very nice. Just bought the same shoe and agree that the color is different than shown here. I'm very happy with them. Funny, Betty was out of town and my order sat for a week as well.

I've been to Carmina looking for wingtips and ended up getting half brogues... they looked nice, were on sale (€220) and the fit is superb, they are very comfortable.
These are in the Detroit last. Will try to get nicer pictures later.

Here's some better pics.

When I picked them up I wasn't sure why the channel stitching isn't hidden and the heel is fully rubber, but they were so comfortable I had to get them anyways...

EDIT: I just noticed there's a pic of the same model in the first page of this thread. That one is more representative of the shoe's real colour ...

After repeated checking of their site in the last few days, since I'm looking for a couple pairs of new shoes, I think that the prices on the Carmina web store have gone up for both calf and shell cordovan. One wonders if it is to compensate for the recent drop in the Euro valuation.

Also, thanks for the great pictures everybody. I'm really surprised that the shell cordovan burgundy color is so light.

Edit...: Nevermind. I'm a bit slow today. Forgot to log in as a US customer in order to have the VAT removed from the equation... prices are as they were.

Travelling through Amsterdam I've visisted Sir Max and obtained a pair of the burgundy cordovan boots, Forest-A last, model 797, double leather sole. No pictures yet, sorry, I'm still on the road.

Preferred these Carminas to Aldens on both Barrie and modified lasts, though modified 9,5D fits well and are true to my UK9,5E size.
Carminas looks more elegant, and are narrower in the arch, good for me.

Strange that Forest-A boots are size 10EE - that is +0,5 and +one E in width to my UK9,5E.

Retail 599 euro including VAT, so almost same that is on Carmina site for cordovan boots (570e)
Wonder why I can't find the 797 model on the Carmina site, is it old and retired? Or because made exclusively to this retailer (SirMax)?

Wow! They are amazing.

I'm looking for a shade closer to dark tan.
I was originally looking for Alden Day Tripper in Ravello, but I do not think I can buy them anymore.
