Can I interject this battle to ask for some good luck while I play dive bar trivia?

Sonny,

I still love that jacket and I like this tie with the jacket much better than the bow tie. (Drakes? from Nieman's? I almost bought one very much like it a couple of weeks ago.)

The shirt and tie are very close in scale and pattern (in the close up). Solid shirt would be easier on the eyes. A larger pattern may work, but I am never that confident mixing plaid ties with other patterns.

I was at Nick's today picking up and dropping off some trousers for alterations (taking them in :D). Talked too him and looked at some of his work. Very nice guy. There are definitely less expensive tailors, but if he is the best in town, I may convince myself to get my first bespoke suit from him.

Looks sharp, gnatty, I like the jacket and the shoes. Overall a very good combination.

One negative remark: stay away from the button down shirt, please! Unless you're going to play a polo match, button down shirts have no right to be in your wardrobe.

Best regards,

Stefan
Stefan, I think the statement in the last paragraph was too overwhelming for most folks involved in this forum. Considering the button down shirt is an American staple (adopted by Brooks Brothers from Polo playing Englishmen) that has since been adopted by respected British and Japanese shirt makers over the years. Heck, even almighty Gianni Agnelli wore it. Most of the SF guys whether lords or dorks wear it. In fact the only issue in SF is whether wearing it unbuttoned is an affectation or not. Then comes this statement, that is not only sweeping but likewise insensitive. While I do not share the gtfooh sentiment of other SFers, because I believe in a vast market place of sartorial ideas, I certainly dislike dogmatic, hard cased statements and conclusions. Note that I'm not American and that 3/4s of my shirts are English and 1/4 are American button down shirts. What you previously stated is like saying "espresso" is the dumbest way of drinking coffee. Not only do you have the Italians running after you but all those who drink a good amount of it each day. So don't get surprised why the reaction was this bad.

Remember the running SF joke/theory that when Victor appeared IST66 disappeared, hence they may be one and the same person. Nowadays, you see a lot of IST66 and guess what? Victor is no where in sight. The joke/theory seems to be holding up.

Shock Top, actually.

Boo. That's like the Mens Wearhouse of "belgian style" wheat beers. And you wouldn't be caught wearing Men's Wearhouse, right?
