Sorry, Victor, I love your suits and your more formal looks, but I am really not feeling the denim. Nothing to do with 'the rules', it just comes across as a bit too prissy and affected, especially in combination with the tassel loafers (which are a type of shoe I have to admit that I hate with a passion, so this may be entirely skewing my view of things).

+1. Just not feeling it..too much going on and the denim killed it.

I think Victor's outfit here is very nice. It is not that showy considering once the jacket is button then no red stitches will be shown directly.

Secondly, what's wrong having only French cuff shirts? I am on Victor's side on this one as I also wears FC shirts with everything. Only those apparent 'conservative' people think they are only appopriate for suit... Those must only have ****** cufflinks and don't own a range of flashy and solemn ones.

Regarding the colour button holes, what's wrong with it? I am convinced that if some old tailor does it regularly then no one will give a word about it. I believed some SF members, including me, loves Tom Ford, but their five button cuff with the extra long first cuff is just as showy and flashy as a coloured cuff.

P.S I love those Russian style humor

Hey Victor, I wonder do you bespoke your jeans? or are they some branded ones which you brought regularly in shops?

Secondly, I think your trousers always looks great but for jeans I inevitably thi k they should have a tighter leg end, that will definitely make you look taller in pictures.

Above is also a balanced and unique outfit

I sometimes wonder if civilians see the creasing on unlined ties and think, "Why doesn't that guy get rid of that tie? It's all messed up!"

 i didnt even notice, i was too busy admiring its beautiful pattern.

Interesting. For me it's the jacket what doesn't belong there.

Looking at it again - yes the jacket does look out of place rather then the jeans. Still though I think slightly more tapered jeans would look better. Maybe its the stitching on the denim that's throwing me off.

That was pretty much my reaction, yeah. It looks like it needs to be pressed, or whatever the heck you necktie people do when a tie looks like it was stuffed into an envelope and sent cross country.

Maybe it's just me, but if ever there was an outfit that called for skipping the French cuffs, this was it.

There's an interesting discussion to be had here about colour combining, which you might appreciate, given your profession.

I'm familiar with the colour wheel, and basic colour theory. In fact, it's quite tightly related to the neuroscience of vision. Our different photoreceptors and the way inputs from each are blended during visual perception lead directly to concepts you're most likely familiar with like trichromatic theory, colour constancy, opponency, etc, etc. They're all rooted in the neurophysiology of visual processing. You've probably come across the colour harmony formula too, which explicitly tries to explain the subjectivity of the varying appeal of different colour combinations despite the more basic theory "telling" us that it should be equally appealing to all.

More importantly, traditional colour theory concentrates heavily on what colours are supposed to work together, partly (not wholly) neglecting the different effect created by varying the proportions of each in the final product. For example, let's deploy exactly the same colours as Ian did, but instead of the items he chose, let's imagine a navy suit (instead of the original tie), burgundy loafers, off-white shirt (the original p/square), and a tie incorporate the teal-ish shade of original trousers, with brown accents in the colour of the original jacket. Possibly even a square in the colour of the original loafers, with some teal accents. In this case, the colours would work together for me, because the proportions of them in the outfit have been varied to a more pleasing overall combination.

Anyway, It's an interesting topic to explicitly discuss!

I don't like that effect either, which I why I don't really buy unlined ties (well, actually, I think I may have one or two, but the wider point stands). I theoretically understand the appeal, but it's totally not for me.
