Crap pics today, sorry. Mrs. Spoo's grandmother passed away yesterday and she was in no mood for pics, can't blame her.

Spoo, your Friday outfit, even by your exemplary standars, was superb. I have seen many complement you on your excellent fits, but what impresses me more is that you mix a variety of different brands into a distinct style. I was particularly impressed with your single pleated Gieves navy suit the other day, a brand that I have always considered somewhat old fashioned and not that well cut, but which looked magnificent and which I would not have expected you to own.
Could please give some insight into your buying process and how you go about putting outfits together. I would find it very interesting. Do you just go with your gut or is it more analytical?

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them.

For purchasing, I used to just go with whatever I felt was most appealing - and usually that meant the most flamboyant things that I saw. I then took an analysis of my wardrobe, and once I took a step back and saw that EVERYTHING was level 10 on the slider - jackets, shirts, ties, squares, etc., I knew I had to scale it back. I sold a lot of my SC's and started purchasing more suits, tried to limit my patterns to 3 quiet ones, and looked very carefully at what was considered a "success" in this thread as well as conservative business dress. Once I had pared down most of my wardrobe to a place where I could grab-n-go - meaning literally grab blind and have it work, then I began to focus on fit. I sold most of my ill fitting pieces (most, Vox, save it) even though I liked the pattern or color. Replaced them all with better fitting basics. I may like the funky suits and shirts, but have been trying to hold myself back from them as I realized that too much is too much in relation to my wardrobe as a whole.

tldr, the past year or so I have been focusing on suits that can be broken up into separates in mostly sedate colors with small patterns, white or blue solid shirts, and I carry over the old Spoo flamboyance to only neckwear and squares.

As far as choosing what to wear, I usually start with only one piece in mind - most often times a tie - and build off that. Today, I wanted to wear this suit. After that I knew it was a black shoe and white shirt, so the only decision making was the tie and square, which needed to be relatively sedate - mostly because of my mood and the intensity of the stripe in the suit. Tomorrow, I feel like green and have a green Panta tie in mind, so lets see where that goes.

Damn, this is a long, confusing ass post, sorry about that. Its been a looooong 24 hours in my house and Im rambling, sorry. I tried to give you an honest answer for a nice honest question.
