Stitchy, for a nice Jewish boychik who won't indulge in shatnez, you've a wicked sense of humor. As it is, Tirailleur is one of the few people here who can rock a boater without looking like one fourth of a barbershop quartet.

BTW, my jacket is actually in the brown family, pants are light grey. Its not really a glen plaid. and the shoes are double soles, not triple, no different than Alden, trickers, RL Marlow etc. I am probably going to be posting more going forward so I will try and fix my photo situation. As to the disheveled comment smile.gif, that is kinda my thing. I can't recall the last time I got s suit/jacket pressed, I tend to wear soft fabrics and if I am wearing a jacket, I don't take it off during the day, I do everything in it. I don't like "sharp" when wearing a sportcoat, I'm looking more for a sweater type fit, look and comfort level satisfied.gif

If anyone can get away with a boater, Tirailleur can...

Stitchy, your family of feet picture gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling that I do not normally associate with this thread.  Do not do that again.  I like your look today btw.  A lot.  Tastefully bold StitchStyle.  Well done.

Well. This is probably one jacket to break the law for. I love mine. It is one of my staple jackets and I wear it a lot. You had your chance...

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not fond of very dark navy jackets; to me, they always look much nicer when they're just a fraction brighter and fractionally shifted away in hue as well. The same also applies to my preferences in navy suits when the fabric has a overlying pattern, whether that be a pane or stripe. With solid navy suits, very dark navy looks fine, nice even. But add in a pattern and something about the interaction of the colours/brightness (probably some kind of opponency or lateral inhibition effect), causes me to become very picky about the background shade of navy and I need it to be brighter. For example, it took me ages to find exactly the shade of blue I wanted when I got a navy pinstripe suit; most fabrics had too dark a background, making the overall effect drab and "muddy" to my eye.

thank you very much, HF. for the most part i agree with your blue SC sentiment. however, i do alos have a darker navy SC that i think lends to a more somber tone that i like a lot, but color for color, i prefer the lighter shades as well.

Yup, I have the same feeling, specially about pinstripes. The navy blazer I've recently ordered will be a bit lighter than the DB I posted yesterday, but I have a feeling it should have been even lighter. Unfortunately my tailor didn't have any lighter hopsacks that I really liked. Still much better than the almost black shade you find in most RTW...

have you stopped doing the full length shots?
i'd love to see full length shots of your outfits again
especially to see how the cuffed pants fall when you are standing
