cords demand suede shoes or some kind of scotch grain. A cord suit benefits from more casual pieces like a BD collar shirt or textured/patterned shirt and non silk tie. Those pants could also benefit either from turnups or a bit smaller length. In the pic they look like (rock the) bells.

Funny you say the micro polka dot shirt. I had a white shirt in college with these micro black little designs that I bought at an Express. I loved it so much and wore it until it fell apart.

To be honest, neither do I. Better as separates, I'd have thought. If you're going to suit it, Parker's spot on with his advice above. Go black chelseas & vibrant shirt (and/or scarf and/or tie). Purple cord suit = party item not country suit, so accessorise for that IMO. As separates, taking a country-ish/gastropub-ish route (you know what I mean, country core image but trying to be more modern with it e.g. edmorel's suggestions) would be fine.
