Hey! Hey! Hey! Watch what you say about PBR!!! This was one of the landmarks in Newark, NJ where I grew up as a kid and provided lotsa jobs to people in my neighborhood, as well as all the firemen and police guys who all had families there. Unfortunately, when it was no longer 'popular', it became the processing center for Brookdale soda, who used to have home deliveries by the case....then it went downhill from there, when the neighborhood 'changed' and, I've heard, has since become the worst section of the city, where drug deals are happening broad daylight. The house I grew up is a burned out ruin now. :-(

Was a great place to grow up in - sorta like NYR's neighborhood is now, Neighnorhood highlights - Tom's Italian Store, Pat n Anne's Italian hot dogs, the butcher shop across the street, Roma Italian bakery around the corner, Gar's German bakery, the fish monger, Celentano's Italian pasta store, the Florist, etc....

An excellent example of how to do it!

...and how not to do it:

Tie's great fun. I admit to a fondness for loud paisleys.

MAYBE woulda been better with a crisp white shirt. IMO

^ Jacket is sexy. The jeans don't look great with it. I think non-denim trousers be better. Perhaps darker, or even black, jeans if you have to do denim.

I find that I have cause to get dressed up this evening. As I have some time on my hands, here are the results of my efforts.

Suit - BB
Shirt - BB
Tie - Charles Tyrwhitt
PS - Robert Talbott
Shoes - Harris, via Barney's NYC

Kevin, that jacket is awesome. I hope your party is as big and gay as you hope it to be.

Crusty - Stripes a little close in scale for me, but overall nice and clean.

Kevin, I can see what you're going for, and the only thing I wish is that the Jacket were a peak instead of shawl lapel.

Crusty, is that what the long-gone vox would have called an efw* Brooks suit? Or is it just the effect of vertical stripes?

Mmm green velvet, I like. Tuxedo pants and a formal pleated shirt unbuttoned ala Tom Ford would work, too.

I'm not sure if I know who IST66 is.

One of our notable Russian rakes. He is less flamboyant than Victor but has a steady array of beautiful coats, pants and accessories. One of the great things about the new Style Forum Board is that you can look at all his posts with a right click of the mouse when you encounter his name/avatar. As Yosemite Sam would say, "that'll learn ya."

Mon cher philosophe, your eyeballs do not deceive you - the suit was altered after I had lost weight - whether by Brooks or by my private alterations tailor, I do not remember, but, if I look thinner in it, I take bets that it was Joseph, not BB.

Yes, Spoo, your comment about the similarity in scale of the stripes is duly noted, though I think that the level of contrast in tone was enough to make it OK (not fabulous, but OK).
