About to pull the trigger on a suede tassel loafer from RL (Similar to Baldwin) but worried of them being only available in D width, do these run narrow,normal or will they strecht? I'm on the wide side of D closer to E width , I have some D shoes but as a guide I'm E on Barrie last and EE on AE. 5 last.

I wear 10.5E Barrie and 11D Rancourt fits very snugly by comfortably in a boat shoe. The handsewn construction does have some give. Not sure how and 11D loafer would fit me though.

And I could probably work in wearing them. I have to say I'm thinking about the Blake wingtips that are supposed to be coming in August. Have some thoughts about mixing shell and suede on a pair... We'll see.

Just received the Jack Spade Barron Boat Shoes in Green
The shoes have been tried on definitely.
I wear Alden Barrie Last in 6.5D, the boat shoes I got in 7D. At first I was worried about the sizing.
But the initial try-on with normal sock and sockless were both ok, dunno how loose it will become after break-in.
Could I use these shoes as a sizing reference for ranger moc and penny loafer?

BTW, one thing I notice is the half in-sole inside the shoe. Are all the shoes by Rancourt have half-insole only?
I felt kind of weird that when I walk because I could feel there is a "line" separating the foot bed, that is the forefoot of the in-sole drop down while the heel rise up...

Congrats on the Jak Spade Barron shoes! I love both of my pairs!

I wear a 12D in those and a 11.5 in their penny loafers. I could probably wear an 11 even.

All of the Rancourt boat shoes have the half insole...it feels odd at first doesn't it? I fixed that with a terry cloth insole from amazon.

The shoes look great and I got them in a deal I could not resist even I am not sure about the size. (thanks to the guy who posted the psa!)

With you sizing of penny loafer, I am hesitate to order the loafer

I don't feel the half insole on my boats, maybe you get used to it or it "blends in" eventually? Do you have flat feet?

I have been thinking of a Repello Suede Ranger on Aspen in either Bitter Chocolate or Snuff.

I think the suede Ranger Moc on Aspen is a full go in either color. Something about the bitter chocolate appeals, but hard to go wrong with snuff.

Suede/Shell wingtips would be hard to Mac Method, but that sounds like a VERY, VERY snazzy makeup.

Thus the dilemma. I am kind of leaning towards the bitter choc., but the snuff is very hard to ignore whenever I see pics.

Have prices of Rancourt gone up or am I just more sensitive now than a year ago when I bought my first pair?

I handed in an order on a boat shoe and was sent a $306 paypal invoice.
I asked Katie how that price was put together and she told me MTO boat shoes run at $265.
I have gone to their site numerous times and was under the impression MTO boat shoes run at $227.
I did specify nothing special, just type and color of leather, thread, sole, eyelets and laces.
I was not asked for a MTO upcharge on my first pair and thought Rancourt would produce every pair of shoes MTO to begin with.
Apart from that, $306 - $265 would mean another $41 for shipping alone, a price I have never had to pay for shipping from the US to Europe before.
Lastly, realizing I have to pay another ~30% of the price Rancourt asks for in VAT and customs I have to admit I am too stingy to pay $400 for a pair of rubber soled casual shoes.

Am I ridiculous or is my astonishment justified?

Just checked my paypal account, $275 last time for a lined Ranger Moc compared to this unlined boat shoe.
10% increase in price in only one year, wow...

I can't comment on Rancourt's price policy but I remember the MTO surcharge being repeatedly discussed erarlier in this thread.

As far as overseas shipping is concerned, this seems to have become crazy expensive lately. I ordered 2 pairs of boots/shoes over the past six months, one from Brooks Brothers (navy CXL boat chukka by Rancourt) and one from Highkickz (non-Rancourt Horsehide Workboots) and paid around 50-60$ for shipping every time. To Germany, that is. I was doing a lot of searching but found no US store that offered cheaper shipping. Only exception is Amazon, who seem to leverage the enormous amount of goods they ship every day and somehow manage to ship a pair of boots from US to D for 9 (!) Euros.

Wearing a pair of Rancourt-made Timberland Eastern Standard boots today...

It does seem that Rancourt is less interested in the very customized MTO process now. I'd say that pricing on the shoes you ordered is enough to discourage a purchase.

The shipping does sound expensive, though I have to say that I've paid 35 or 40 Euros for shipping from Europe to the US, which was for three day service. Expensive, but fast.

Overall, I think I'd be too stingy as well to pay the price you were quoted.
