Im going to a friend's summer wedding this August.

I'd like a white suit, slim cut.

I want to get a throw away cotton suit, and Im thinking white or seersucker. I'm willing to spend up to $400.

Do you think H&M carries such a beast? Their website is awful.

Is wearing white to a summer wedding not on the beach TOO affected?

Unless you're the bride, I wouldn't wear white.

Seersucker or tan/khaki cotton might be perfect, and you should be able to find something in your price range. Haspel and Jos Bank have seersucker in that range. I think the fit and quality is pretty bad, but it might work for you. H&M will probably have something in cotton or a cotton blend, but stay away from white.

I would check garage sales/thrift stores in the Brooklyn area. That's where Tony Manero was from.

Personally, I wouldn't wear a white suit to a wedding. You are going to draw too much attention to yourself, thereby drawing attention away from the bride and groom. I'd consider khaki instead. If you really want something disposable, you can pick one up at Target.

That's a great advice...Do not wear white at a wedding becaosue you will draw all the attention to yourself instead of the bride...

You can wear cream or off white if you want to wear a lighter colour..
How about a navy or chocolate linen suit if you want to go darker and a tad more formal?

If you still want to wear summer colours , linen will look great in cream.

Le Chateau sells cheap white linen suits in the summertime. Fairly slim cut. Not top quality, but if it is for a one off then to become a halloween costume, go for it.

I believe the rule is that WOMEN are not to wear white. I will go Khaki or seersucker, should anyone else confuse women and men.

Are there any benefits to buying something nicer than Haspel for a seersucker?

^Cut and style, mostly. Some folks don't like the traditional cut Haspel usually offers.

The point of the prohibition on white is to avoid drawing attention away from the bride. It's just good manners not to wear something that will cause people to gawk at you, regardless of gender. I wouldn't want to be "that dude" at someone else's wedding.

Why not a J Crew cotton tan suit instead. You won't have to deal with the "white at a wedding" issue and you will have something that you can actually wear and look great. White suits for most of us are novelty items.
