Dear DpprDr, please excuse my poor English and my previous comment missing an important information, because what I wanted to say was that the Vass I receieved are EU40.5 and I think that size is the best fit I can get out of the F last.
Also while it is not a perfect fit, I think I will never achieve such with non bespoken shoes.
On a sidenote I do not believe in comments by others that any RTW shoe fits them perfectly/like a glove, they obviously just don't care about fit as much as I do.
The Vass wear comfortably which is all I expect out of a pair of RTW shoes.

Did you receive a free pair of fitting trees for your shoes by Mr. Kuti just like I did?

Apologies for my misunderstanding. No, I did not request another pair of trees (and not sure if 3-piece trees would be complimentary). Mr. Kuti is excellent to work with and exemplary when it comes to customer service.

I will say that after trying a variety of lasts from different makers, I have found RTW shoes that fit almost perfectly (and shaped to my preference)... so do not lose hope!

SHS: good eye! Yes, figured it is a new year :)

Louis XIV: L foot is slightly longer and wider (although not half size difference from the R). I have low arches/low instep.

Fellow Vass lovers:

After the initial euphoria has subsided, I'm faced with the hard reality of cosmetic imperfections. Fit is fine.

Would you consider these defects or the charms of hand made shoes?

The alignment of wingtip not centered and back stitch are different lengths.

I paid a pretty penny for these and I'm considering whether or not to raise it up with Vass.

the 'charms of hand made shoes' is an apt way to word it.
those 'charms' aren't limited to vass though. i'm finding those variations to be the case on virtually every brand
and am finding myself wondering if it is truly worth it. i think i'm coming around to it but just not quite there yet.

Razor is a darling...if you tell him you're not happy, he'll take them back (probably at your cost) and make you new ones or give you a refund. I can't comment whether or not those are mistakes and if so...are they unforgivable ones....there are some technical blokes on here who will surely chime in.

You probably meant Rezso ;)
I don't think justsayno has to pay for the exchange, this is obvious fault of the shoemaker and imho you shouldn't explain misalignment of the wingtp by handmade.

Me too...his name is pronounced like the band Erasure but without the E in the beginning.

So for me it's Razor....because it sounds way cooler then Reszo.

Personally, I think those are still in the realm of acceptability. If you get another pair made up, who knows what kind of things may be a bit off with those? If these fit I'm inclined to keep them. If you really are hesitant though I would hold off a week before contacting anyone and wear them around the house on carpets.

If you look inside the shoe you will find the initials of the maker - something like ALBI, or BANDI ...they r both very good curious if this one is made by one of them?

Ultimately it is going to be you who is going to wear them, so decision so the decision is yours if you are willing to wait and go thru the arduous task of shipping back waiting etc..
