ep 8 is available on HBO on demand and various "alternative" sources, imo the best yet

I watched it last night. Stuff happens. That's all I'll say. The previews at the end for the final two shows is pretty tasty, too.

Holy Mother of God.

I knew that that had to happen at some point, and in retrospect I should have seen HOW it was going to happen, too--they'd given us little glimpses here and there.

Uhm... nothing more to say about that, don't want to ruin it for people.

On a non-spoiler note, how do people see this season ending?

My best guess is that it ends with McNutty and Marlo being booked at the same time.

interesting guess. the McNulty plot line is a little ridiculous for my liking, probably because last season was just so dark and realistic.

I thought the same thing, then realized that Hamsterdam was probably just as unrealistic. In the end, it's still a TV show. But yeah, it's looking like Season 4 is going to be the standout season of the whole show for me.

Amen to that. It was awesome. I have to agree with Poly on the McNulty plot. It's just clunky to me. And the newspaper stuff seems cliched and boring. This has been the weakest season IMO.

Although I wonder if Season 4 has been the best because I've never really had any experience with inner city schools. Admittedly, I've never been affiliated with inner city gangs or longshoremen, but the stuff with the schools seemed so alien to me. Going to an all white suburban public schools, I don't think I really had an idea it was like that.

Wow, I am really surprised that people aren't liking this season much. True, its a major downer to see people REALLY self destruct, and although his method is somewhat of a stretch, its really not that far fetched. People in that line of work can blow cases up so large that they take on a life of their own...and yes, you can easily hide other cases within them. The fact that everyone is jumping on board with McNutty just shows the effects of a perfect storm...ambitious mayor, flailing departpment, rampant homelessness, crumbling media....and I really like the newspaper angle of this season. Granted, I haven't seen episode 8 yet. I'm still trying to figure out where we're going to throw The Wire Wake after episode 10 airs....
