¿What do you think of the Maybach 57, 62, the biggest Mercedes-Benz cars since the Mercedes-Benz 600.?

I have never sat in one, so I don't really know. However, I wanted to comment on this color for a large luxury car and I think it is awful! I saw a Bentley coupe yesterday in this color and it looked so ordinary and plain. It doesn't show off the lines of the car at all.

Cars of this sort seem to look best in black or another strong color that gives them the presence they seem to deserve.

That being said, if you buy a car, any car, you certainly should have the enjoyment of having it in any color you want, even if I don't like it!

I think that choice of color is more important than the car itself. So if you buy a Rolls and paint in yellow, you have degraded the car. I think black, blue or deep red are good colors for cars.

This one has a better color:

I think they pretty much ruined the appeal of the Maybach after the new S class came out. The design is too similar, and the new S is very good on it`s own.

I did see a Bentley Coupe in London a while ago and the color was breath taking. Believe it or not, it was candy apple red in an ultra deep laquer finish with a white leather interior with gold accents. I know this sounds ultra pimp, but it was being driven by a Savile Row looking customer. I can only imagine it was one of many luxury cars for him and this was his equivelent of wearing his "Go to Hell" pants or braces.......

Maybach 62 is longer and better than the 57. So buy the 62.

There's something very cold about the backseat. It feels like sitting in an airline's business class.

I think that was the original point of the 62, to make it seem like you are sitting in first class on an airplane.

Personally, I like the drivers seat, and for the price of a 62, I would get an S65 AMG and save a lot of money.

I love them, they are great. A little big (someone that flies out of the Dulles private jet center has a 62 IIRC and it sticks out of the parking space quite a bit), but the color is a big point. Dulles Guy's is stunning, it's mostly black but the sides are a pearlescent white, it is gorgeous.

+1, I saw a Continental in Annapolis not too long ago, the color looked great on that particular car. It was a deep red, I couldn't see what the interior was. Either that color or, as mentioned, black looks good on almost any sleek car.

I believe the 62 was design with the idea that the owner would be being chaufeured, sort of like a limousine-lite. I moved one once when I was valeting, and I was pretty impressed with the backseat and the general interior. Like a less gaudy, less old-fashioned, more high-tech, more ergonomically sensible Bentley or Rolls. I'm not a fan of the exterior design, but other than that I prefer them to a Phantom or Continental.

Miguel, are you in the market for one of these luxury behemoths?

I don't know if that oozes intimidation as much as it does ugliness but I guess to each his own.

Saw a Maybach this past weekend in Newport, we were all unimpressed. I can understand the understated command no attention look that many high profile businessmen want but the premium is just way too high. I would go so far to say that the exterior is ugly too which to me is a dealbreaker on a $40,000 car let alone one costing $300,000.

I'd gladly take an A8 or LS extended version over the Maybach if I needed a huge car.

Although I like Maybachs, I would rather buy a Lexus LS460 and Porsche 997 and spend the rest on shoes and watches.
