My first pair of EGs is a Chelsea on the 202 in chestnut, bought from Susie Jones in the good old days before she left EG.

My first pair of JLs I actually bought in Northampton and it was a pair of Bordor in black. Also bought an Osner in Ardilla that day. Both pairs were perfect, non-reject shoes.

My first pair of Vass was when they still made shoes for Baldessarini, which is quite a long while ago. A tobacco suede Chelsea boot on the Budapest last.

My first Crockett & Jones was a pair of Albany in tan antique.

First pair of G&G will hopefully be delivered soon!

Every single pair I have bought since is still in excellent shape and is part of my rotation.

Right now, my favorites are my JLs on the 1105 last and my Vass U-last shoes.

my first pair of C&J's was purchased at the RL sale last month and I have since bought 4 more pairs. I've got the itch and it's going to cost me.

My first pair of John Lobbs were made for me in 1976. They were a pair of black captoe oxfords.

After years of buying "fashion" shoes (Prada, Miu Miu, Jil Sander, etc.), my first high-end purchase was a pair of StefanoBi double monks (used) that I bought on ebay from A Harris. I love them.

The only other SF-approved brands I have purchased so far are Santoni and AE, both on ebay.

My first pair of lobbs was the result of a trip through Dallas. Of course, I had to stop at Stanley Korshak, even though I knew I couldn't really afford much there. I talked with a great salesperson, and asked him to call me if there were any cool things in my size that popped up on sale.

A week later, got a call that the John Lobb Farndon shoe was on sale, in size
9.5E-- he threw in a pair of Lobb shoe trees for me, and I think I paid the unbelievable price of $480. A week later, my first pair of Lobbs arrived and I was hooked on Lobb prestige-line shoes.

Corthay: RTW Arca to be finished in an antiqued medium/dark brown and green patina. (Don't know the color name.) Purchased today, at their store in Paris. Happy day.

FWIW, also looked at Aubercy RTW, but strongly preferred the Corthay.
