Agree. My father worked for Lever for fifteen years or so before he moved out to California, and when we used to go back East we would always stop by to visit old friends. It is a great building.

The Beamer building is just a neat idea.
I've always had a weird fascination for North Korea, and the Ryugyong Hotel falls under that. Does anyone have any more info on that building? I know it's not completed (and may well never be).

There is a local businessman here who bought a second adjoining house in Atherton to demolish and show some of his Serra sculpture collection. It is spectacular.

Hey, thanks. That's a particularly nice shot -- I love it when twilight allows the sky to lapse into cobalt before surrendering to darkness. It's a more beautiful background to me than daytime sky blue. Whenever I am in the city I shoot that building, and have a few of my photos of it here on my walls. LS. not surprised you like it, that era seems quite in your province.
I have unfortunately not been many places, and I almost find it hard to imagine what it must be like to see some of these edifices -- that Gherkin!? And the expanse of Tokyo? Astonishing.

+1 on Calatrava. this building deserves a repost. simply stunning. Calatrava would also throw down on a similar thread about bridges.
