Wow. "Nominal" as in "related to naming" (of knits versus weaves) not "in name only" (as in calling him weird for pointing that out). How you came up with passive-aggressive after my prompt subsequent response of "If they don't qualify, my mistake" is beyond me, but apology accepted.

seriously? the possibilities are as endless as wearing a regular ol' tie. IMO because the fabric and shape are more casual it generally works better with casual elements like a SC instead of suit, a vest or sweater, etc but really it just works anywhere. Examples from our very own (most cases) forum people:

Thanks guys, especially threadbarer and master-classter for the photo posts. I am definitely down with the grenadines, and I now have a couple of knits (square-bottomed) that I wanted to try to work in, but I was figuring that it was more a sportcoat and jeans look. It's nice to see it paired in a somewhat dressier look.

Also, yes, I am now subscribed to the WAYWRN threads, but it's definitely hard to keep up.

Not really digging this one though.

Perhaps the tones of jacket and tie are too closely matched and both being solid.
