Adrian has done some excellent work for me, can’t fault him. Some of his stuff looks maybe a little big or frumpy, but its only because that’s what the individual client has wanted. if you want sleek, he can do sleek.
From what I understood when talking to him, the difference between mtm, tailor made and bespoke is the amount of work done. I’m pretty sure you have a set of paper patterns made for a mtm but there half canvassed as oppose the bespoke which is fully canvassed and has working cuffs ect.

Give him a ring, he’s a top bloke.

can someone confirm the M&R tailor that seems to be recommended in Sydney is this chap? http://www.mrtailor.com.au/ I am going to be getting a rather pricey jacket shortened (sleeves). The only price he has is $10 for pants which seems quite cheap; equivalent in Brisbane was around $20

any cobbler recommendations in Sydney? I need to fix the heels on my shoes.

I stand corrected, the pics did indeed look rather baggy.

I will give him a call myself tp see if he will alter my jacket.

Whether or not a suit is fully canvassed/half canvassed/fussed has nothing to do with the fact that it is bespoke/MTM/OTR

E.g. Some MJ Bale OTR suits are fully canvassed, P. Johnson also offer fully canvassed suits.

The paper patterns is the main difference, as mentioned by the poster above, along with all the options you have with going bespoke. For MTM, you have an existing paper pattern cut to your measurements. A bespoke suit is where a tailor would cut a pattern specifically for you from scratch.

Technical terms aside, going bespoke doesn't guarantee a better result than OTR+alterations. For the uninitiated, I would argue that bespoke would produce a worse result than you would get if you went for MTM/OTR - simply because bespoke offers so many variables that it would be hard for someone who hasn't yet determined what works for him.

I am all for bespoke, just don't expect a miracle the first time around.
