List your favorites.

I've been drinking the following:

Agavoni
1 oz. silver tequila
1 oz. sweet vermouth
1 oz. Campari
1-2 dashes Bittermens Xocolatl Mole bitters

Vermouth cocktail (modified from recipe in GQ)
1 oz. dry vermouth
1 oz. blanc vermouth
0.5 oz. Clear Creek pear brandy
0.25 oz. St. Germain

I remember reading Hemingway once, I think it was in Moveable Feast, and he wrote about drinking Rum Dubonets. I tried them and liked them quite a bit. Best to use dry Don Q Puerto Rican rum though if you can find it, instead of the sweeter Bacardi.

Do you mean cocktails you like to drink as an aperitif, or cocktails that include liquors that are usually described as aperitifs? I prefer starting meals with champagne cocktails. Kir royale, French 75, etc.

What about aperitifs that aren't in a cocktail?

Negroni is probably my favorite unless you count a Manhattan and its variations as aperitif too.

How about a cold Lillet Blanc with a twist of orange. It is one of my favorites and a classic cafe drink.

The Corpse Reviver #2 or the Vesper when made with Cocchi Apertivo as the bitterness of the quinine is appetite whetting, I feel. Negronis, Americanos, etc of course. My White Martini with a little extra Vya dry vermouth (2oz Hendricks, 1oz Lillet Blanc, 1/2 oz Vya dry, 1/4oz Maraschino). In the morning, Aperol and soda or my Embrasseur du Lillet -- Lillet rouge, champagne, orange twist.

psg, if you can get a hold of some cocchi apertivo try it that way. Like Lillet but with more quinine -- lovely when dead cold! ~ H

+1, although the smoked italian Manhattan that I had at bristol would make me change my attitude.
