Thanks for the suggestion and info Manton. Don't allow my janky execution sully his recommendation.

Three things I did wrong/to improve:
  • I skimmed to close to the top when spooning the sauce. It could have easily been thicker if I spooned it better. You can see the thicker dollups in the photo, it should have had more of that I think.
  • Seared the fish too much. I ran the pan too hot and seared the surface too much. The associated taste crowded out others.
  • Too much ginger. As I added it to the pan, I thought maybe it was too much. Yep, it was. Too strong a ginger taste.

Overall though, I can see how the flavors should combine, but didn't in this instance. So, I'd give this another try before the one from last night.

I am making my Japanese gf make me some Old El Paso white people tacos right now. All the ingredients seemed to align tonight and I've been drinking, so that sounded fun. I should put my white people tacos in that guilty pleasures thread, along with the spaghetti napolitan w/ canned mushrooms that I ate the other night as well...

Impolyt's weekly eating habits seem to run the gamut from absolutely ballin' to total poverty.

Spaghetti Napolitan, made with ketchup, vienna sausages, canned mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. The point is for it to taste as cheap as possible

Congratulations.
