I mean... having your pic in your avatar was kind of the whole point wasn't it? Identifies who you are.

I know how much you love my poo-challenged avatar, but I use a picture of myself because I think it is helpful for people to associate names with faces. Call me crazy.

I think it's sort of ok, if it helps people identify the person. I do however think it's more or less pointless because very few of us even meet in real life, so like why? I'd rather associate your posts with the username and use the avatar to learn some idea about you you're trying to convey. any as long as we're on the topic, I really mean no offense here, but Lasbar I do find it a little weird that you post pics of your kids as your avatar. Even when NewYorkRanger includes his kids in teh pics it kind of weirds me out a little. Spoo's little girl is adorable, but it was like one random pic.

I think a more interesting question is why some of you guys have such beautiful women in your avatars. Does it bother you that many of your avatars plays a prominant role in my sex life? Do you feel violated? Do you have any idea of the physiological effect it has on me to picture such a women talking about Italian shirts? I'm tired of having to replace my keyboard every three weeks.

Perhaps they think the avatar is a representation of the poster, and that a picture of yourself is a pretty literal interpretation. I like avatars that are the poster. Feels more honest to me. Like they're willing to let you put their face to what they have to say.
