What with all the P90X buz, I was thinking of getting that workout to train at home, but then came across "The Pit" workout, coming from a more MMA background.

Has anyone tried this workout? Comments & thoughts on it?

Im definitely a fan of the convenience of the home workout. I can't speak of any experience about The Pit, but I can recommend another MMA type workout; GSP's RushFit....

Also, it is a ton of hype and hoopla, but P90X truly does work if you put in the effort, through all its marketing madness, I would highly recommend it.

Can't speak for The Pit, but I know a number of competitive MMA guys that still use Bas Rutten's old workout CDs. Basically Bas calls out combinations or movements in 2 or 3 minute rounds like this:

Snagged a copy off of the ol pirate bay. Looks like The Pit would be similar, based on the videos on their site. Edit: I checked youtube and did some googling of "the pit vs. bas rutten" and it seems Bas' workout is more intense and realistic while The Pit offers more variety. The Pit:

Thanks for the comments.

I found Rushfit on the internet as well, after more searching, and it looked good. I ended up ordering that one, and once I get through it a few times I'll think about supplementing with another (probably Rutten, Pit or P90X, in that order) to mix things up.

I'd say most of these programs are better if you just do them and don't mix them up. Pick a program that matches your goals and then stick with it.

Me too. I start phase 3 tommorrow. Have lost 14 lbs through the first 2 phases (8 weeks). More importantly than the weight loss though is better muscle tone and generally just feeling a whole lot better.

To clarify, I'm not planning to play eenie-meenie-miney-moe with the workout DVDs.

My thought is that I could do Rushfit for the 8 weeks that it is designed for, and then instead of merely starting over again, do the 90-days of P90X, and then back to Rushfit (or whatever) ... but alternating entire programmes, not mere daily workouts.

To do what I think you think I thought I would do, would be silly. (I'm agreeing with you.)
