Things to buy in Italy?

Heading to Milan, Italy on a budget.

Does anyone have recommendations on things I can buy that aren't too expensive that I wouldn't be able to get out here in the states?

If you do some research you will find outlet shops on the outskirts of Milan where you can get designer fashions at a discount. But, it takes time and money to get out there so you have to consider that.

We were in Milan in the fall and found it to be quite expensive. They do have some chain stores like Boggi that offer Banana Republic quality, good prices and Italian style, but you really need to be aware of fit and try everything on. That is true anywhere in Italy. The cuts are very different than in the USA.

If anything you'll find the majority of things are of the same price level, if not more expensive, than the USA.

At least this time of year.

Pizzas. Not too expensive and better than the US ones.

Any reccomendations accesory wise (ties and such?)

ties are good bang for your buck in lots of the boutique shops. also lots of patterns that are hard to find in north america. There was a really good one on via torino near the FNAC that made all their ties by hand in house and sold for 20-30 eu. wine is also cheap.
Aside from that, most prices are on par with the US, with the exception of ralph lauren, which is inflated. the selection for higher end goods (tods, gucci, isaia, TF, zegna, is pretty unreal though if you're on a budget, this wouldn't apply. the quad is definitely worth a walk through just to window shop. I always recommend G. Lorenzi for a functional souvenir to bring back. Even if you're on a tight budget, there's something in there for you.
Also, definitely hit up a show a La Scala, it is an experience that can't be replicated stateside. scalpers sell tickets before the shows for reasonable prices (50-70ish eu) right outside the gates by the leonardo statue. sorry for the book of a message.
