Thanks for the suggestion but those Santonis look too much like a monkey boot rather than a hiking boot.

I would suggest to pass this fad...I was in the same situation as you a few months ago,really wanting a pair of Hogan Rebel boots with red laces.

Then I bought in November and not worn yet these these Gucci boots

They are too warm and heavy and come with a warning not to wear them in snow or rain (!!!)

Then I bought in December on sale a pair of more comfortable Santoni Club boots that I will probably sell. Similar to these but in calf not suede

These are really light, come with 3 pairs of different color laces and you find them easily on sale now.

I have real boots for hiking in the mountains in Switzerland and I really the look of old-school Paraboot Avoriaz, but you'll throw your money by trying to make a fashion statement wearing them once or twice in India.

Depending on how comfy they are I might use them on a small hike I've been wanting to take for some time.

If nothing else I'm sure they'll work fine as a pair of winterboots for me.

For your use as I understand it, I still feel the Dunhill's have the best combo of sleekness and classic styling.

FWIW, I'm no fan of the flat soled variants - especially the ones with light contrasting soles.

^^ I want to do a portion of the West Highland Way so much ... maybe even climb the Ben Nevis Anyways, the Dunhills are nice but my chances of scoring one over the internet are next to zero. BTW, they also make one in alligator. So much for a utility shoe
