No Herring on eBay?

I'm still very overwhelmed by the world of shoes and I'm trying to weed my way through the process as best I can. On mensflair.com I read an article talking about Herring Shoes. It caught my interest so I checked out their site. Now, I don't know if these are crap shoes, over priced shoes, or the holy grail of shoes. All I know is I'm still trying to break into the world of footware and I'm trying to associate styles with names and what types of shoes are worn when, etc.

Their website was a nice consolidated list that included pictures AND prices so I could get a general idea of what to expect. At this point I need all the shoes I can get (dress, work, casual, brown, black, tan, everything.) but I should probably start with a Brown Work shoe (my work is very business casual).

How am I doing so far? It seems people have some mixed opinions of Herring shoes on here but I'm more curious as to why I can't find them on eBay. They have some other brands listed on their site but I couldn't find most of those either. I'm trying to take it one step at a time cuz there is still so much terminology I don't understand and I've already wasted $100 on a pair of Steve Madden (don't flame) dress shoes that are falling apart after 5 months of use...

Because no one is selling them. As to why no one is selling them, I would guess that there is no one that wants to buy them. As far as the other brands that Herring owns/makes, they are all over ebay (Loake, Church's, etc.).

theyre not that popular, so will be impossible to find from ebay theyre already very cheap directly from the source they use classic method of construction. which is good the leather arent terrific, but of course you get what you pay for i like the styling, and think theyre a terrific value... probably the best at that price point. youre not going to find classic styles and construction for <US150 anywhere else

I did see they have a Graduate collection which keeps them under 100 pounds (which I belive is ~$150 US). Not too shabby.

I do have a friend here in Charlotte that owns Westport Big & Tall. While I am neither big nor tall, I'm told he can get me shoes "at cost". I'm not entirely sure what kind of discount that would provide but at least it will allow me to go into a store and see/feel some nice shoes in person. I will try to go there this weekend and take a look

Herring is great, but you get exactly what you pay for.

Cheapest (or close to) prices on branded shoes.

Herring are made down to a cost. They are great entry level, and the construction is better than off the shelf shoes. The point is that they are cheaper than Church, and worse quality. They are similar price to Loake, and of Similar quality.

Their price is almost entirely related to the quality. They don't make £30 shoes, because those shoes would be crap. Their £100 shoes are worth exactly that.

That's actually really helpful. If I don't find anything this weekend from my friend, I might order a pair from Herring. Man, I could spend my entire paycheck on shoes and be ok with it...

Some web-shops sell on eBay as well, but that's not the case with Herring Shoes. Since Herring is its proprietary make, it's not strange that it is only available at their web-site.
