2002 (right after 9/11). Did 3 months of contract work for $2500-$3000 I believe. Was unemployed for another 3 months until I got a job for $45K.

55K in 1972, and that was huge money back then.

But of course I was the Dean of Princeton Law School

As to you, youngin. If the job is in the field that you want to stay in and can lead to greater things, I would say grab it.

33K is not a whole lot but the COL in Albany must be real different than NYC. And if you carry the torch and become a corrupt NY state elected official one day, you know we would all be very proud of you.

Why do I live in NJ, seriously.

This must be outskirts though, no? I'd imagine anything near Houston to be pretty expensive.

2001, mining engineering, $63k.

For a new graduate now, that figure is now around $110k.

I work for an oil & gas services company. I'm really lucky to get the job I did right out of school.

Mine was a bit under 40k during my year between undergrad and JD/MBA program. As a liberal arts student, I thought it was pretty generous since I didn't have any skills.

63 isnt' really lowball for a programmer unless you're some kind of star.. lots of coders well into careers only make that much...
