i know i have have already asked this but please forgive me i got no responses so ill try again.

i have always bought otr, i started with joseph abboud, i have 3, i then stepped up to a pal zileri and then a canali. i am 44 reg but no otr has really fit me pefectly. now that i know more clearly what i want out of my suit i would like to get a mtm. i know how i want my suit to fit (eg. jacket fit & length, shoulders...) and what particular options i like(eg. pleats, jacket sleeve buttons...).

i know that there is learning curve as with all new things but im trying to go into this purchase with as much info as possible as it will be a considerable purchase.

i plan on making the purchase this wednesday and would like any help, opinions, and suggestions from anyone with mtm suit experience.

as always thanks in advance i hope to get some help this go around

Don't expect the first one to fit perfectly. If you buy more from your source, then they'll make adjustments to successive ones resulting in a better fit. IOW, lower your expectations.

Have you tried taking the suits you already have to a tailor? For me, I just make sure the jacket is the right size for my shoulders and chest for the most part, and that the waist fits me. Everything else is easy to alter like the sleeves, waist, length, inseam, etc.

i have done that but when you mess with a suit it can affect other parts like the vents or cause it to not lie well on your back obviously it depends on the skill of the tailor but i have not yet found a great tailor here in baltimore (i plan on making the mtm purchase in chicago i go there a few times a year)

PM'ed you re. Baltimore tailors. I think we're in the same boat my friend. Thanks for starting this thread.

MTM places I've been to have had diagrams of their usual cuts, so I had some place to start. From there I told him what kind of vents, lapels, buttons etc. I liked. And as previously posted, it isn't a totally perfect fit but its noticeably better than my usual, and if I go back again I think it'll be really easy to improve.
