Just take them to a cobbler and have the soles replaced when they wear out. It's really not that expensive.

How about Bean shoepacs, or the Maine Hunting Shoe?

+1 I just wipe them down with water if they're dirty and stick shoe trees in them when storing.

Hi there, First time posting on the streetwear threads. Apologies for cross posting from the Men's Clothing forum but think this question is more apt for you guys. Can anyone ID these boots/shoes? For this coming Michigan winter looking for some winter/hiking style boots to wear instead of galoshes when going between parking and office, running out at lunch, walking the dogs and so on. These pics are from the Belvest web site for the 2010 winter collection (The Belvest site is flash based so can not link directly to images but you can find some here, http://www.belvest.com/). Any ideas? Closest I have found is Fratelli Borgioli but they do not appear to be alpine/winterized enough: http://www.forzieri.com/usa/product_..._valore5=&nc=1 http://dynamic.forzieri.com/is/image...-012-1x?scl=1} Other options from Merrell, Danner, Orvis, Paraboot or Doc Marten's seem much more bulky but might be what I need to settle on: So any ideas on lightweight and hopefully waterproof and insulated with good traction hiking shoes? Trend? i don't really care about trend. I figured belvest was just using as a prop and I like them. I live in Michigan, beaucoup ice and snow and i want some decent hiking-style boots - but not huge bulky things. Just enough to save my real shoes.

I am leaning toward Fracap M100's but not sure how bulky they are - the photos suggest a moer shoe like shape but not sure:

Hiking boots worn casually (especially if they're designer and worth big bucks) make me want to vomit all over them. Those d-rings are terrible.

Not sure anyone is advocating wearing hiking boots casually - I agree - I want some that are more like a hi-top/hiker hybrid for relatively functional purposes because most boot options are more ugly or lack traction. The ones I found on the Belvest site appear to meet my needs but can not find anything like these on the market. BTW, Fracap isn't a high end designer per se. They are a small, traditional (including military) boot maker in Lecce, Italy: http://it.fracapsrl.it/ The boots I included above just appear to be on a more narrow last but still waiting for a stockist to confirm.
