I'd bust up laughing if I saw an americana/jcrew chump in hollywood getting styled on by everyone.

Sorry, I didn't mean "clubbing" - just, like, out to paint the town red. I also didn't mean that one was "supposed" to dress up to go to a bar, I was more noting that most people do, and that there don't seem to be many friday night fitpics. If I'm going dancing, which usually doesn't happen at "clubs" since there are none here, I probably wouldn't wear flannel/heavy raw denim/chunky boots (which I could do if I were going to a dive bar, which is far more common for me anyway).

Anyway, I thought ahead and went with a looser silhouette last night so that I could get lower

Actually, Detroit isn't even that dangerous anymore, it's mostly just abandoned and empty now. They're continually demolishing old buildings and are even going so far as wipe out entire neighborhoods and convert the land to open park space.

When I was a little kid, I remember going to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Fox (?) theater, and instead of taking the expressway we drove down Woodward. This was around maybe 1989 or 1990 when it the city was at its absolute worst. The last time I was actually in the city itself a few years ago, it was nothing like that.

I think thats a bit of an overstatement. Detroit may not be as dangerous as it used to be because of the abandonment, but its still pretty dangerous.
