We call them ramps here. I'm not sure it is the same as wild garlic in Europe, since different things grow in different places, but ours are quite good, and just coming into the markets now.

It is somewhere in between. In France ramp = ail des bois, so I figure it has to be the closest to European wild garlic. They are all the same family.

I learn something every day. I've had ramps in the US, like them a lot and always thought it didn't exist in France - although it's close to oignons jeunes. Never had ail des bois in France.

I wrote incorrectly. In French, not France, they are ail des bois. It is a North American plant named by Quebecois. They are great.

season started around a fortnite ago.

you can make pesto from it, which is nice.

it's very useful in the cold kitchen with dips, dressings(salad sauce), spreads, patÃ

baby leek is jungzwiebel in german.

ramp, wild garlic are only "leaves".

I picked up some ramps today from the market at lunchtime. Also some cepes. Should be nice together.
