..... http://www.clarks.co.uk/find/keyword-is-desert+boot http://www.oipolloi.com/brands/ClarksOriginals-6.html I'm pretty sure Clarks are way easier to get a hold of in the UK in general...the limited edition ones in particular. Hello, purple suede

Also: These look pretty sweet to me.

these are pretty sweet. What do you think they will go with though? I find these boots not as versatile as others do, they go great with jeans but not much else IMO.
You think like khaki 501s or brown 514 cords?

Just ordered the distressed taupe. Found a pair of distressed grey too that I may jump on.

Haha. I was mostly just pointing out that there are a number of styles available over there that you can't get here. But I do think the second ones look pretty good... And yes, sand suede is glorious.

It's the design, not what it's made of. the extra stitching or whatever on the sides and back--it's extraneous and unappealing.

Off topic, but I've decided to pretty much put aside my DBs until winter is over. My go-to boot while the weather's cold and sloppy is going to be my old 14-eyehole vintage Made in England brown leather Doc Martens boots, purchased circa 1994. Forgot how warm these suckers are. And they still look good! Need a fresh app of mink oil though.

No really, I think you're making a bigger deal out of it than it really is.
It looks like a pretty basic moccasin detail to me

That's how they attached the part with the laces on it, rather than extending it all the way down to the sole.
It seems to me that DB's are the one's with the extraneous material...

The same thing is all over Sperrys and various other mocassin style boots
And as for the sole, it looks exactly the same to me minus the chunk missing between the heel and the toe.

I don't think those minor differences would detract as much when worn as you're imagining it would.
