Yeah, haven't been wearing last two years but need a resurgence as I have alot of antique cufflinks laying idle and seen some nu ones which I want to try out.

Also liking different style cuffs - may get some nu bespoke ones with a zip where the buttons should be, a watch flap cuff ala Angelo Galasso (who incidently has a new shop in Knightsbridge).

I love French cuffs. They're an element of my personal style. Yes I will wear them to a job interview. The only time I won't wear French cuffs is when I'm wearing an odd jacket and office pants. There's stuff that a French cuff shirt is too over-dressy for.

I have no problem wearing French cuffs with odd trousers and a coat. Check out ManofKent's WAYWT posts to see someone pull it off really well.

My problem is that I have to fight the temptation to have a wardrobe of just FC shirts. They can't be dressed down with jeans or sweaters, can't be worn when it's hot and you need to take off your jacket and roll up your sleeves, and look silly without a jacket period.

Never worn French cuffs, I have a question. Are they forgiving for sleeves being slightly too long? I mean, will they stay on the wrist, or rather slip down on the hand? Can they be adjusted somehow?

I've worn black or chrome armbands under a jacket or sweater for sleeves that are slightly too long or have the local tailor adjust the sleeves if its off the peg.

Is this reasonably easy and inexpensive?

I like french cuffs, although probably slightly less than 1/2 of my shirts have them. I would probably wear them with more frequency, but I shy away from doing so with some client meetings.

I really like french cuffs, about 95 % of my shirts have such cuffs. I wear them on all occasions, even with jeans. The only time I won't wear them is with shorts, which I rarely use.
I find it very practical when one wants to pull up his sleeves to have those double cuffs add a certain rigidity.
I've even commissioned some very casual shirts with french cuffs that I accesorise with "casual" cuff-links.

Maybe is it also because in Europe they are not considered as formal as, apparently, in the US and it may also depend on ones work.

+1 I prefer French cuffs, but I don't have a whole lot of opportunities to wear them. Even given this, probably about 1/3 of my shirts are FC. I jump at any chance to wear them, which means I'm wearing FC almost any time I wear a suit. Though I agree there are times when they're not appropriate - as someone said above, I can't imagine wearing them to a job interview.

No, they dont slip down. They are almost as tight on the wrist as a normal shirt, 1/4" to 1/2" more play w/ FC.

Just to be clear, what I meant was the type sometimes called 'single link cuffs', not barrel cuffs.

Does this change your replies below?

I thought single cuffs were considered more formal than double (french) cuffs?

Some shirt cuffs are snug, the Black Fleece, for example. Look around.
