I've got a pair of vintage florshiems from ebay - couldn't be more happy with them and if I find them in other colors (mine are brown) I wouldn't hesitate to pick them up. I get lots of good feedback on them.

The ones I own are the current (India) ones, yet still they are great shoes.
Stiff at first, but they do get better after a few weeks break-in. Love them.

Can anyone answer if the current Florsheim Kenmoors are corrected grain or full grain? I'm currently sitting on a new unworn pair of Loake Royals in burgundy, which are corrected grain. But, I'm considering sending them back to England, as they are just too damn shiny for me.

I saw a couple of pairs at a Florsheim store yesterday, the black and burgundy are corrected grain, but there are also a couple of scotch-grain varieties.

For current Kenmoors the safest bet is the black pebble, which I have. I'm still not convinced it's full grain, but I'm glad I bought it first rather than the smooth non-pebble ones. http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/f...174#post995174 Here is the brown pebble pics somebody posted.

Thanks for the info, I think the pebbled look pretty good. Are the corrected ones plastic looking? That is ultimately why I returned my Loakes. I asked my wife what she thought of them and without hesitation, she said they looked "plasticy". So I'm wondering in the Florsheims look any better.

I picked up a pair of the pebbled cognac Kenmoor's this afternoon at the Factory Store. I can't wait to sport them tomorrow. I would have grabbed the a pair in the burgundy as well, but they didn't have my size.

I also grabbed a Golden Fleece BB tie for $25. Good times.

did the burgundy's look plasitc-y? How much did you pay for them at the Factory store?

They're designed to resemble Cordovan American longwings, which is why they're made of corrected grain. The construction is quite decent. Between those and the current Kenmoors, which cost twice as much, I'd definitely go with them as they are considerably better.

I thought they had a tinge of a plastic look to them. They did not look nearly as nice in the store as the pictures in Greekgeek's post. $155.

I just returned a pair of them, paid about 125 at the outlet....didn't like the fit of them but then again I have been having size issues due to my feet. Was at the retail store today and they had a pair which looked really sharp, almost like a basket weave pattern on the leather uppers...if I can find those in a size that works I might consider them again but retail store was a little more money at 160 out the door.
