another of my friends was laid off. not a close friend, but both he and he wife are now out of work. parents of a friend of my son's, and I see them at school a few times a week.

thanks, guys. no need to feel sorry for me, my friends are in the ***** and I'm the lucky one. I'm gonna visit my friend later today, all results aren't out yet, but I heard the cancer is still in its early stage so hopefully she gets well in time.

okay, I just got back from the hospital. my friend's operation was successful, and it looks like the cancer didn't spread.

Nah, we've actually been doing very good so far. She is 20 and works for a new airline flying to my airport, we actually have the same interests and enjoy the airplanes and all that stuff. We went out once and both of us seemed to enjoy it. The only difference is that I am in school and she isn't, so she has time to travel and do other things that I don't have to time to do, which is unfortunate. Maybe it's just not meant to work, I have no idea

Couldn't you just enjoy your time together and ****? What's all this relationship business?

I feel really bitchy for posting so much in here, now. My manager called me earlier letting me know that headquarters needs me to go to a 3-week training course in NYC starting Monday. Today is Tuesday, this is less than a week's notice. If I do not go to this training my job is seriously on the line because I was due to be laid off this winter anyway, fortunately my manager saved ****** on that one by appealing to headquarters. Apparently HQ is really pressing for me to do this course. Unfortunately I have school during these 3 weeks and for as much as I don't like school, I can't just clip off 3 weeks of courses (as well as a midterm during one of these weeks). I love my job but I know I need school, unfortunately I think I'm going to have to go with the school on this one but I would be completely lost without my job. I have no idea what to do. Needless to say, to hear that this may be happening has been absolutely blindsiding. Dammit headquarters.
