Ugh. I've been negligent with my shoes and am putting together an order for shoe care products... Cost is over $150. I kind of understand what foo is doing with the whole OneShoe thing.

One of my daughers "” RubeBabe III "” got a letter today from the IRS telling her she owes $20000+ in taxes for 2006.

She was 16 year old.

Looks like someone was using her SSN

Same thing happened to Lish last year.

It was from 2006, she was working at a tiny little pizza place while she was 16. She only made $3,000, but somehow her taxes got put into the system as making $300,000. The error was corrected with the state, but the state never communicated that to the Feds. She actually had a warrant out for her arrest before the problem got taken care of. It was nuts.

RBIII had NO income in 2006. She didn't get a W-2.

This is really fucked up.

Rube - any chance it was a clerical error similar to what Kwilk's girlygirl went through?

I hope this is a simple clerical error: mistyping an SSN or some such.

I'm was thinking some illegal working in a packing plant somewhere in Iowa gave his employer a random SSN, which just happened to be RBIII's.

But that would require what, $100K income? That ain't no kill line worker.

As I noted, she's never even received a W-2; never filed an income tax return. This is quite weird.

Actually: we send out 1099's each year to the IRS: probably around 30-40 or so, and each year some come back to us claiming bad SSN/name combinations. I re-check my forms, and sure enough: I reported it correctly, it's the IRS that entered it wrong. These things happen.

Sorry to hear this. It's bad enough when a simple mistake is made by others and you have to go clean it up (as has happened to me), but it's much worse if someone's been using her identity. I hope it all gets cleared up.
