Bought a bottle of Bombay Sapphire, which I am in the process of enjoying now. Not what I expected at all. It has a great...Well, bouquet if we have to get fancy about it. But also a lot less sharp, then the Gin I am used to. I works wonders, with a G&T and I find I can even make larger once at that, as it seems to be the perfect gin for that.

I thought with the tanqueray, I had found the gin for me...But this is also pretty god.

If you like Gin you need to try Hendrick's. I prefer it to Sapphire.

I'm going to pick a bottle or two of the Bouchard 2005 Chardonnay. Do you have any experience with this one?

They are two different things. For me, equating Hendricks to Sapphire is equating pear vodka to raspberry vodka. They have different purposes and I crave each at different times.

I agree. I haven't had Sapphire in a while. It was my favorite for a long time, but I much prefer Plymouth these days.

Then again, I've been going through Gordon's lately. Bought a bunch for a party and had some left over. In these times, I'm drinkin' what I've got. It's not bad, actually.

I tasted through the 2005 and 2006 Bouchard lineups at the Domaine last year. I was generally impressed at all levels, and find Bouchard to be a particular value - along with Boillot - the past few years. Since their purchase by Henriot, quality has improved dramatically, but prices have only risen modestly, due both to their large size and mainly negociant reputation. You should be quite happy with the 2005 Chardonnay.

Good point. I just prefer Hendricks because it is the only gin I can enjoy on the rocks with no mix.

Thank you very much; your comments are quite informative and helpful especially for a budding wine geek like me.

Cheers!

Well, something tells me that Hendrik's is more of a Martini kind of gin. And I have never really been a big drinker of those. I like my G&T and Gin & Apple juice (and sometimes an energydrink or two) but thats about it. And something tells me that spending 35 £ on something that will go into tonic, 9 out of 10 times, isnt really worth it. But then I used to think that tanqueray and Sapphire wasnt worth the extra cost either, and I was wrong about that...So maybe...

If you enjoy Plymouth buy yourself a bottle of Martin Miller.

Are you telling me that Hendrick's is £35? Domestically?? Jesus - I pay $30! Edit: I see not domestically - Denmark. That explains everything. I have never seen higher booze prices than in Scandinavia.
