Since Hunts turned me on to Junipero, I exaggerate not when I tell you that it is my favorite gin.

I can get Plymouth and Martin Miller's easily from a local store, but I have yet to sample Junipero. Eventually I'll have to take the plunge and order a bottle online.

While you're at it, get North Shore Gin. No 11 or No 6. Both great.

Interesting mix gomestar. Some choice Italian vintages there. How did you like that Eaglepoint Ranch? I get a Syrah from Stefania, made from Eaglepoint grapes.

Gentlemen, I had a very lucky find today. I recently posted about Merry Edwards and her Sauvingon Blanc. We received some 2007's with our allocation, which is based around my wine love, Pinot Noir. I took the offered SB along with the Chards, just because you need some white wines. Wine Spectator just gave her 2007 SB, the highest score they have ever given an SB; 96. I have five of her 2008 SBs coming, and have this single 2007 in my cellar left.

So, today, I was cruising the aisles of my local wine shop. What do I find? Three, 2007 SBs by Merry Edwards. I could not believe it.

I am a lucky man. Then what do I find next? Cask 16 Crown Royal. Over 50 vintages blended and then aged in specific cognac casks. It is wonderful, with smooth vanilla, brown sugar, and molasses notes.

Interesting mix gomestar. Some choice Italian vintages there. How did you like that Eaglepoint Ranch? I get a Syrah from Stefania, made from Eaglepoint grapes.

It was interesting, big blueberry on the nose and then a heavy junior mint aspect on the palate. A little over the top for my tastes, but much better than the fake-fruit K Syrah. The Alban, while not quite my type either, had one of the most fascinating noses of any wine I've ever had - started with big time jam, and then it took on this cinnamon black tea thing, and then evolved into a straight-up eggnog sniff. Really fascinating stuff.

The 2004 Oreno was just awesome, power, grace, and balance done to perfection. My favorite of the evening.

Just picked up a bottle of Bodegas Sierra Salinas Mo 2006

Jay Miller of Wine Advocate gave it a 90 so for $16.00 I couldn't pass it up.

I'll have it with grilled steaks this week.

Does anyone know of a good online source for wine rankings?

It would be great too if they have ratings for a decent number of Aussie wines.
