I have and wear wool trousers, but I'm wearing khakis or other machine-washable cotton pants 4/5 days of the week.

+1--in the SW+D forum, this will get you murdered.

I have a couple of kirkland vneck sweaters that are more than serviceable.

I also wear a quartz watch (skagen) as often as a mechanical.

I have several sweaters that don't fit as they should and I don't really care.

My briefcase is a newer model from coach.

On gdl's toggle-back links confession, I don't even own a pair of "real" cufflinks.

I own two leather belts total, and I almost never wear the black one.

+1 on toggle backs. "real" cufflinks are a pain

I fear it might be UN High Commission time to address these human tragedies.

Interesting that they put a portait of FDR there. In the Bush years, everything in that room was a landscape or a battle scene.

Where does the WH get its artwork from? Special access to some sort of national collection?

Did they have a two-for-one, like so?

Do you recognize it? The landscape is flat and alluvial, prone to flooding.

Is that about the time they constructed these levees?

That is the first floor West Wing lobby.

The WH can borrow art from the various USG owned art museums in DC. If you are an Assistant to the President (top ranked staff) you have this privilege for your office. You can't take just anything, e.g., the National Gallery's one Leonardo is off limits, but lesser works can be claimed for a time.
