Are you referring to the company that makes the military oxfords? If so, they are, or at least used to be, reasonably durable and well made for the price you were asked to pay.

just googled them. they look perfectly well-made, but I'm not seeing the 'interesting styles' you were referring to.

I used to work at a distribbutor of bates boots. For the military/police/security footwear market they brand themselves as low price point and stlye. Other brands are more durable or comfortable, which may be more appropriate for that market. I cant image what style your thinking of though? I dont know too many black, 8" sidezip boots with names like "recon" that this forum would approve of.

oh, what would some higher end military/police/security footwear brands be?

i was looking at the 8'' durashocks lace-to-toe side zip and 11'' side zip paratrooper boots. they're fairly clean and utilitarian, which i think is more aggressive than the "hi-tech" look most of their other boots have.

Dehner, WESCO, even Danner, with some of their boot offerings.

Even though the company laid me off last month and Im still looking for work (Ughh...) I direct you to qmuniforms.com Great boot selection, cheap prices, same day shipping.

None of these are bad, but you get what you pay for from what I hear. My roommates work in law enforcement and all those guys swear by the danners but their big and expensive.

Low ends are bates, magnum, altama, 5.11
Mid range: Converse, thorogood, TImberland
High End: Danner, matterhorn, rocky

sucks about the job, david. hope you find another soon!

thanks for the infos. i've only looked for a few minutes, and the rocky leather professional chukkas already tickle my fancy. i wouldn't be surprised if common projects did something like that.
