I need something to protect my trousers as well as my shoes from the water, salt, and sludge of urban walking. Which of the following is the best choice?

1. Swims Mobsters at $150+

http://www.swims.no/

2. Tingley Executive Half Zip at $20

3. Topper Zipper at $23

4. Servus Black Dress Zipper at $20

I'm leaning towards the Servus because of its low price, the fact that its lined, and its slightly higher profile. I'd like to hear other folks' thoughts and experiences with the above zipper overshoes.

when picking your size, do you get your normal shoes size, or do you have to adjust and get a size or two larger to compensate for the space you need to have your shoes inside?

i personally like the swims, they look nice enough to just wear around even outside of foul weather. i m thinking of just that, just putting them on from the home to the door of your office.

I get a 1/2 size to 1 size larger. I love the Mobsters too but the $150 price for *overshoes* is a tad daunting, especially when functional $20 overshoes achieve the same purpose, although with far less style I must admit.

Can any Toronto-based forum members think of a b&m store here that carries options 2, 3, or 4? I think I'd like to try these on to make sure the size was right.

Has anyone tried using a pair of normal boots a couple of sizes up for this?

I mean, putting your size 8 oxfords inside a size 10 commando-soled veldtschtoen zug-grain boot, for instance.

Basement of the manulife centre. Roy's or Ray's Shoe Bar I believe. His are probably like 2x the price of the ones on the net. But considering you can try it on right there in the store I'd get it from him before I got it off the net. 40 bucks really isn't that bad.

Thanks, LVoer. Don't know why I didn't think of Roy myself since he is my go-to guy when it comes to shoe repair/resoling. As well as paying for the ability to try the overshoes on I'm willing to pay the "small-operator premium" at this store.

I remember seeing a post a while back with a picture of very interesting zip ups. I forget what they were called. Any ideas? They looked like more of a shoe and less rubbery.
