this is a great drink, but after living in Australia for a year where I first had one, I'm ruined for them unless it is specifically Bundaberg OP (overproof) Rum 57.7% w/ Bundaberg naturally brewed traditional ginger beer. No I don't work for Bundaberg!!, but to me I've never tasted one better.....

I've gone through phases. Past favorites include the sidecar, a well-made margarita (e.g., tequila, lime, and Gran Marnier), and an old fashioned made with Old Overholt rye whiskey.

One? Unpossible.

But I'll just go with the one I uses to introduce people to the world of real drinks: The Sidecar, or sometimes, the White Lady. Same family.

Dry Fly Gin gimlet with fresh lime juice and a splash of cointreau instead of Rose's

Campari and soda in the summertime. Tanqueray Rangpur martinis any time of the year.

I had a Chartreuse cocktail once that was outstanding, but I can't remember the name. Chartreuse, gin, grapefruit, St. Germain. Something like that.

3 oz blood orange juice
2 oz good silver tequila (i like el tesoro)
1 oz cointreau
dash of agave syrup

shake and strain over a few cubes of ice in a salt-rimmed old-fashioned glass.

Chartreuse verte and grapefruit juice shaken with an egg white is called a 'St. Germain' - maybe it was that?

I couldn't pick just one, but I tend to gravitate towards:

Dirty martini (gin, of course), a little heavier on the vermouth
Bourbon Manhattan, splash of "juice" from the cherries
Bourbon and Dry Ginger
G&T
Negroni
Old Fashioned
