There's a place in phoenix I went to when I was on my internship, called deluxe. It was delicious... it was definitely a more fancy burger place. Very modern inside. A lot of chrome and blue neon lighting. It was pretty cool. A small little place with a bar on one side, tables running along the other side, and a long skinny table across the middle of the entire floor with the blue lighting running under the glass. Grain fed burgers are the ****. They serve regular french fries and sweet potato fries in little shopping carts too haha.

The Rossini from Fleur de Lys in Vegas (the so-called $100 burger) is not only the best burger I've ever eaten but also probably the best thing I've ever eaten, period.

^^^ I've been told that it's one of the utlimate Harvard hang outs, and also that the owner(s) are right wing, at least by Cambridge standards, and used to have the place filled with novelty anti-Clinton posters and parephernalia.

I was recruting out at Harvard several months ago and hit that place up. Mr. Bartle's had a pretty damn good burger. If I were out there, I'd go there again. Don't know if it would qualify as "best," but surely up there.

Is this thing literally $100? I think it's insane to spend that much on a burger, but at the same time, it's a burger, my favorite of all time, so i'm tempted to do it. God knows I've spent $100 on way more questionable things.

It's kind of literally $100, so to speak--you get a three-course meal for $74, including an appetizer and a dessert. Several items on the menu, including the Rossini, carry a $25 surcharge. But it's easier to just say that you had a $100 hamburger.

There's the $184 Trilogy Burger in Thailand which is basically the same thing.

Goodly Mac, I cannot help but concur wholeheartedly with your ruminations. One should enjoy a fine Hammburger Patty with a hunk of freshly baked bread, several slices of deftly carved Pig's Bacon, and a hearty slice of fine Cow's Cheese.
