Your Opinion: Gray + Brown = Fail? Also, separate vest and pants.

New to the forum, hi all.

The vest and pants are not from the same set, yet they are ever so similar in texture, pattern, and color. Can I pull it off? Also bear in mind that party guests will not be holding a magnifying glass to my clothes.

Also, given these pants and vest, can I wear brown/tan oxfords with them? Here are two examples of shoe colors that I am looking to wear:

Thanks in advance.

BTW, vest was ~$25 from Banana Republic. Pants were $20 from Express. I am a bargain shopper

Chris-

The search tool is your friend. Many threads on wearing brown shoes and gray. Fewer threads on gray shoes and brown clothing.

10-4, consider this my Mulligan.

Although, I am still curious about whether the pants and vest go well together.

In terms of combining non-matching items, too similar isn't usually a good thing. The items need to look distinct, so that it doesn't look like you got dressed in the dark. Here, the flash makes it hard to judge. I'm skeptical, but eyeball it and go with your gut.

I think the darker shoes would likely work better with the trou/vest combo, if you go with it.
