Body odor isn't terribly appealing either.

First owned AND first bought: 212 by caroline herrera... I have no reasonable explanation other than it smelled good to me back then, as it was unlike the 8th grade dance cologne that everyone else wore

Good hygiene can work wonders, and doesn't require layers of top notes, mid notes and bottom notes of chemicals that mimic natural scents.

The first cologne I ever wore was Brut, and it wasn't long before a friend of mine told me "You smell like a goddamned Iranian," and whatever that meant, it wasn't good and it nipped that habit in the bud.

Actually, the first I wore was Royall Bay Rhum from Trimmingham's in Bermuda, which is what I grew up with. After the above incident, it's what I returned to. In recent years, I discovered California Antilles Bay Rum, which is the best I've ever found.

Now I use YSL Live Jazz and Body Kouros, and something *****cat brought me back from Holland called Van Gils.

Regular hygeine is a wonderful thing, but even the strongest soap and water sessions can't solve the typical odors we produce as humans, especially in the summer.

Anyway, among the better fragrance makers, there is a preference for natural essences. Creed, for one, touts that they don't use artificial scents in their fragrances.

First one I wore regular was Drakkar Noir which my sister bought me for Christmas one year back in the late 80s. My first girlfriend really liked that cologne. Really liked it. God bless DK.

First one I bought was CK's Obsession.

My first was either Halston z-14 or Oscar de la Renta 'Pour Lui', bought both around the same time when i was about 12 or 13. I don't wear any now as I find most fragrances annoying, but I do like Armani's 'Aqua Di Gio'. I have been told frequently that I smell nice, maybe it's my Jean Nate 'After Bath Splash'

I grew up in the 80s. Of course it must be Drakkar Noir!

I remember the First one I stole from my Dad was a bottle of some leather smelling cologne, don't know the name, but it was a Brown-squared bottle, with a gold cap. Maybe Polo..

Aspen from K-mart was a hit for a few years then came the Drakkar Noir, and Vetiver de Carven.. The one that really hit the spot was Armani with the clear-glass bottle and the black bottom and black top..

hmm, my first cologne was givenchy red, in that curvy bottle, which has since been discontinued, i'm told by my friendly neighborhood nordstrom's fragrance counter sales girl. it was part of a gift bag at some longines/swatch group event i attended when i was a freshman in high school. i now switch between issey miyake and hanae mori.
